On tour from Peru, Afro-Peruvian guitar master
Coco Linares teams up with top Peruvian artists Marina Lavalle andBraulio Barrera to present an evening of traditional and original songs from Peru.

Afro-Peruvian singer Marina Lavalle is one of the most distinctive performers in the Bay Area and one of the great voices of modern Peruvian music. An important figure in the resurgence of Afro-Peruvian music, Marina nurtures a carefully crafted blend of contemporary and traditional sounds. Accompanied by guitar, base and Peruvian cajón, she renders a soulful and vibrant interpretation of an array of rhythms in her musical heritage such as: Landó, Festejo, and Zamacueca, just to name a few.

Braulio Barrera is a singer, composer, dancer and percussionist. At a young age he discovered his passion for music. He taught himself how to play various percussion instruments, such as the cajon, bongo, congas, and other African drums. He has composed jingles for various Peruvian commercials and joined Acuarela Criolla (1992-1996) a musical group and percussion school inspired on Peruvian Cajon experts Eusebio Sirio Pititi and Ronny Campos. He became part of Peruvian singer Cecilia Barraza's ensemble, where he traveled throughout Europe, Costa Rica, and the U.S.  Since moving to the U.S. in 2000, he has performed and played for various Peruvian dance companies and Salsa bands. In 2004, Braulio contributed to the Motorcycle Diaries soundtrack and in 2007 he performed salsa for NBC's trailer, Cane.
