J BOOG is a man of many influences. The singer of Samoan descent was born in Long Beach and raised in Compton, California. Growing up in the rough streets of Compton, the strong sense of tradition and culture that J Boog absorbed from his family was instrumental in his path to stay off the streets and begin a successful music career. After releasing his debut album “Hear Me Roar” in 2007, he joined the musical family Wash House Music Inc, a record label based in Hawaii and San Francisco. Since then he has released several smash singles, including "Let's Do It Again", one of biggest dancehall tracks of 2011. His new album, “Back Yard Boogie” features the reggae giants Richie Spice, Tarrus Riley, Fiji and Morgan Heritage, as well as Hip-Hop superstar Snoop Dogg.
BAYONICS define today’s Bay Area experience, fusing the musical genres of hip-hop, Latin music, funk and reggae with elements of rock and jazz. They have been described as the new, hip-hop influenced generation of legendary groups like War and Santana, continuously expanding and melding genres to match the evolving cultural landscape. Bayonics claimed the Bay Area spotlight this summer with an award and a highly anticipated new album. The nine-piece band was awarded the SF Bay Guardian Editor’s Pick for Best of the Bay – “Best Frisco Fusion” just last week.
They are set to release their second album, Mission Statement. With a diverse collection of songs like Wheels Keep Turning, Paz y Guerra, and Northern Cali, the new album defines the award.Bayonics and Mission Statement are literally and figuratively a product of the Bay. The album features a wide array of local talent such as renowned MC’s Lateef the Truthspeaker and Approach, Jazz Mafia’s Adam Theis, and QBA vocalist Orlando Torriente. It was locally produced in the Mission District by the Rondo Brothers, whose past projects and collaborations include acts such as Dan the Automator, Handsome Boy Modeling School and Deltron 3030.
