Bio:
The birth of J’ANN came over a year ago. First captured by the sound of The Fugees “Many Mics”, I knew that I had to perfect the sound of becoming an MC. Since the age of six-teen I have been venturing into the field of writing, first with poetry, writing for my high school newspaper, two full novels, and now with HIP-HOP writing my own music. I wrote my very first rap over a year ago with little or no structure. I felt like I was thrown in a world of music, that I was being directed without knowing where I was going. What I soon discovered was that I was born with the gift to be an MC, I myself just had to recognize it. Once I realized that writing HIP-HOP songs took less than ten minutes for me I knew that this was my calling. I recorded my first mix tape Untitled, ten tracks all directing myself at discovering who I was as an up coming artist and how I viewed the world. Becoming more and more attuned into HIP-HOP and the impact it had on so many people I decided to do something I didn’t do with my first mix tape, I released my second mix tape to the people and titled it THE RISE, THE FALL, THE BIRTH. The response overwhelmed me with excitement, that it pushed me to do a follow up mix tape called BROKEN CHAINS. This is where I begin to start myself on a path of letting the world know me. I begin to do shows and place songs on You Tube for self promotion. The more shows I begin to do, the more responses I received, and the more I became driven to be the best.

Now at a new stage, I am redeveloping myself into a more universal artist that all can relate to. DA POET WITH DA MIC is the image I am painting for myself as an MC. I am here to redirect music back to its true roots. I am here to save the world by showing the world that soul music still exist. FREE WORLD my up coming album well be the sound that has been forgotten in HIP-HOP. FREE WORLD will define us all with the inner super powers we hold. As an up coming artist from the West Coast I see myself in all markets of HIP-HOP, I see myself as HIP-HOP, and I see the future of HIP-HOP rising to new heights of versatility. At the end of my journey with music (death) I plan to have reached every goal that I have set for myself including owning my own label and becoming the remarkable artist that many of my musical influences have become. THE FUGEES, THE ROOTS, MOS DEF, KRS-ONE, EVE, DMX, DA BRAT, TUPAC, BIGGIE SMALLS, JILL SCOTT, ICE CUBE, J COLE, FASHAWN, WU-TANG, DR. DRE, BOB MARLEY, ERYKAH BADU, SADE, MARVIN GAYE, LORD JAMAL , CROWN CITY ROCKERS, BAHAMDIA, LEFT EYE, QUEEN LATIFA, NAS, JAY-Z, TECH NINE, CURRENCY, DJ QUIK, BIG KRIT, DA GAME, J DILLA and so many more artist that have influenced the world with the music they have made. I would love to work with any of these artists, really KRS-ONE, ICE CUBE, and JILL SCOTT they are my favorites along with MOS DEF and LUPE FIASCO. I pray to become a musical legend and a universal star that has shinned my light so bright upon the world that I will never be forgotten.
