Chet Chet continues to ride wave of success with new single ‘Slim & Thick,’ followed by two new EPs
A wave of new music from fast-rising Midwest artist Chet Chet is set to hit the industry over the next few weeks, starting with his latest hit single “Slim & Thick,” featuring Boosie Badazz. Currently available across all streaming platforms, this Club joint is already making waves across the U.S. and sets the stage perfectly for the bevvy of new singles Chet Chet has planned for the next couple of months.
On Oct. 30, he released his new EP “pSH!T” and plans to follow that up on Nov. 11 with another EP called “29.” These new releases further display an artist at the top of his game. Following the success of his EP “Little Tony Vol. 2” released earlier this year, Chet Chet said he’s riding a wave that he knows will propel him onto a global stage once people immerse themselves in his unique sound and style.
“This first song, ‘Slim & Thick,’ was produced by a guy from Baton Rouge. It has that kind of feel to it – that kind of Three-Six Mafia kind of feel,” Chet Chet said. “With Boosie featured on there, it really adds that little something extra. He’s funny and there’s nobody else like him, and he added exactly what I needed to that track. For the EP ‘pSH!T,’ I wanted to go for an old-school vibe. I watched Super Fly and The Mac and all those movies to get that kind of a feel, and then I wrote six songs that just have a vibe with it. I think people are gonna love the production and will really feel my Southern roots.”
All of these new releases show the world just how much Chet Chet is in a league of his own when it comes to the music industry. Born Chester Gerard Jackson, he grew up as the only child raised by a single mother in Chicago. Chet watched his mother struggle with drug addiction but said that despite her struggles, he always viewed her as his queen. Growing up in one of the more violent neighborhoods of Chicago, Chet Chet saw everything – from violence to drug use – and even spent some time in prison. But every time something seemed hard, he would turn to music. He’s worked hard over the years to develop his own unique sound and style and now with his vision, Chet Chet is primed to blow.
“I wouldn’t compare my style to anybody,” he said. “I make sure that I stand out and sound like myself. My favorite rappers play a big part in how I break a song down. Most rappers in Chicago tend to fall into the categories of Bop, Hip Hop or Drill, but I’m versatile and more focused on melody and wordplay while still being influenced by the streets. I prefer to cater to more of the player side of the city. We gotta remember that Chicago is the home of gangsters and pimps. I got silk in my blood and it comes through my music. I like to tell stories and just speak my life, and through that I feel like I cater to both my Chicago and Southern roots in my sound.”
To date, Chet Chet has released a total of eight projects, including: “Sex Money, Drugs”, “Every Damn Day”, “Catch Me If You Can”, “Lacoste Love”, “Lacostalot“, “Cuffs To Cufflinks”, “Lacostalot 2″ & his latest project “Lil Tony Vol.1” which includes the well received singles “Aspirin” and “She Love me (Feat. Baha Banks).
