Buena Trova Social Club
is a musical duo of Madeleine Zayas and Brandon Vance and their compañeros who share a passion for world art and culture through music. They are excited to have their public debut at La Peña. Their music is a blend of traditional Latin American/Caribbean folk music and contemporary flavored musical idioms, with covers and original songs. Well-crafted vocal harmonies and acoustic instrumentation in combination with Afro/Caribbean percussion, flute and other instruments, enliven their songs. Their songs are inspired by Nueva Canción artists such as Silvio Rodriguez and Juan Luis Guerra.

BTSC members are Brandon Vance (vocals, guitar, tres, piano), Madeleine Zayas (vocals, percussion), Juztino Panella (flute, guitar), Judy Graboyes (congas, bongo), and Mwamba Blakwomyn (bass).

Guest Appearance by:

Quarteto Azúcar, an exciting multicultural ensemble of women from the Bay Area who play salsa and latin jazz music. Theirs is a creative mix of original compositions and spicy arrangements of standard tunes. Quarteto Azucar musicians include Maria Cetto (vocals, cuatro, percussion), Sue Kaye ”Suki” (congas, percussion, vocals), Mwamba Blakwomyn (bass), and Judy Graboyes (congas, bongo).

Quarteto Azúcar will be opening the show for Buena Trova Social Club.
