40Love: Spanning the genres of Hip-Hop, Electronica, Soul and Reggae, 40Love's sound is versatile, unique, and ever-expanding. Hailing from San Francisco, 40Love is the rising new group gaining critical acclaim and "breaking sonic barriers" (URB)..... Since their second release, 40Love has been reviewed and featured in media outlets like NBC, URB, Okayplayer.com, Venus Zine, VIMBY.com and Hard Knock Radio, as well as featured locally as Amoeba Records homegrown pick and CD Baby 1 Hyphy album two years in a row. They have recently been nominated for "Best Rap/Hip-Hop" in the SF Weekly Music Awards 2009.

Le VICE: Le VICE is an Indie Hip Hop and R&B band whose determination is to bring a little fun and personality to their live shows and recordings. Their LARGE sound includes cosmic and ambient synthesizers, moving bass lines, hard-nose drumming and angular guitar licks. This is topped off with front woman Alex Lee’s hip hop swagger and soulful singing. The result is part throw back and part future; but something that is none the less catchy.

A-1: Fresh off of releasing 5 independent Mixtapes, A-1 is consistent as a lyricist, he brings acrobatic word play, hard hitting punch lines and poetic visuals to the forefront in his music. Introspective verses about his own life and the world around him from the perspective of a young, working class member of society, with a scatterbrained sort of versatility separate his music from the others. He has built an strong online buzz with numerous youtube videos and free mixtape downloads, as well as having performed around the country with an unrelenting stage presence.

The Whooligan: A Bay Area native and rising, national tastemaker, "The Whooligan" is a dedicated lover and student of music spanning all genres, cultures, languages, philosophies and countries from around the world. The Whooligan is an intricate part of the Bay Area's music scene and the undeniable flair for his craft, along with an impressive work ethic have quickly gained him fans beyond his native soil, as demonstrated by his #4 ranking in Music Culture Today Magazine’s Top 10 Favorite DJ Sets from the 2009 Winter Music Conference in Miami, FL. The Whooligan is a proud member of 40Love and the Om Records family.

Prentice Grant: From Vauxhall to Legacy — The Rise of an Independent Hip-Hop Force

The first time Prentice Grant realized music could change his life, he was just a kid in Vauxhall, New Jersey, staring at the TV. Two kids not much older than him were on the screen — backwards clothes, fearless energy, commanding the world. It was Kris Kross performing “Jump.”And in that moment, something clicked. It wasn’t just the beat.It wasn’t just the crowd. It was the power. From that day forward, Prentice didn’t just listen to hip-hop — he became it.He sharpened his pen studying legends.…See More
