DJ TOMAS (Umoja Soundsystem/Voltage Music) has spun on radio and in clubs for over 20 years. The Bay Area native started out as a high school radio DJ and later hosted Reggae Music Forward for seven years at college station KXLU in LA. In 1992 he co-founded the Umoja Sound System with members DJ Daz, Cokni O Dire, Culture D, B-Love and Jun. Tomas has promoted dozens of reggae nights in San Francisco such as Culture Corner at Koko Cocktails, and Crucial at Nickies BBQ. He also writes about reggae and other styles of music for United Reggae, 96 Hours, and Google Play. Under the production alias Dub I.D., Tomas has remixed Ninja Tune’s Poirier, London’s Neotropic and released music on Ubiquity, Bastard Jazz, and other labels. Now 15+ years strong, DUB MISSION is one of the longest-running dub & reggae parties in the U.S., and the world. A weekly Sunday night party at Elbo Room in the Mission District of San Francisco, Dub Mission presents cutting-edge dub, dubstep, roots reggae, and dancehall, and has featured artists from all over the world, including Adrian Sherwood & the ON-U Sound System, Mad Professor & the Ariwa Sound System, the Scientist, Mungo's Hi Fi with Soom T, Zion Train, Twilight Circus Dub Sound System, Turntables on the Hudson, and many others. We look forward to another year of riddims and laughter.
