Event Description
Sexual Democracia is a legendary Chilean rock folk-pop band that formed in Valdivia, Chile in 1988 during the final years of the Pinochet regime. The band took its name to parody the Chilean national plebiscite of 1988. After a failed censorship attempt due to their perceived obscene band name, Sexual Democracia reached national success after the Pinochet dictatorship.
For the first time in California, Sexual Democracia’s frontman Miguel Barriga will be performing live at La Peña Cultural Center Saturday, September 14 at 9pm. He has released 15 albums with Sexual Democracia plus 5 solo albums. Stick around after the show to purchase the band’s merchandise and meet Miguel Barriga!
