The Life in the Valley Economy report series, first published in 2007, is unique among the many economic reports issued on Silicon Valley's famed high-tech economy.
Popularly known as the LIVE Report, it examines and analyzes employment and wages, household budgets, savings and debt, job security, the safety net, health care access and infrastructure, housing, crime, transportation and public safety, and education from the perspective of poor and middle class families who confront different challenges and choices from the entrepreneurs and executives whose perspectives dominate similar studies.
In offering this important perspective from the high-tech region heralded as the leader of America's economic recovery, the LIVE Report is a glimpse into the future of the nation's poor and middle classes.
The LIVE Report will also discuss solutions to income inequality that are being proposed or tested in what is widely considered the nation's exemplar of an economic meritocracy.
