San Francisco's longest running upstart spoken word series features literary dragons, awesome poetry, criticism, memoir, and TONS MORE.

About the readers/performers:

Gabe Hudson's new novel is Gork, the Teenage Dragon. He's also the author of Dear Mr. President, a finalist for the PEN/Hemingway Award and winner of the Sue Kaufman Prize for First Fiction from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Hudson was named one of Granta's 20 Best of Young American Novelists.


Indigo Moor's latest book of poetry is In The Room of Thirsts & Hungers. The current Poet Laureate of Sacramento, Moor is also a playwright and author. His second book of poetry, Through the Stonecutter’s Window, won Northwestern University Press’s Cave Canem prize. His first book, Tap-Root, was published as part of Main Street Rag’s Editor’s Select Poetry Series. Three of his short plays, Harvest, Shuffling, and The Red and Yellow Quartet debuted at the 60 Million Plus Theatre’s Spring Playwright’s festival.


Inkoo Kang has written movie and TV criticism for MTV News, The Hollywood Reporter, Wired, Slate, LA Weekly, The Atlantic and the Village Voice.

Nick Farmer is a writer and linguist based in Oakland, CA. He created the Belter language for Syfy’s The Expanse, contributed to the best-selling introductory linguistics textbook published by MIT Press, and works to support endangered and indigenous languages.


Toni D. Newman is the author of the memoir I Rise: The Transformation of Toni Newman, discussing her 25 year difficult transistion. I Rise was nominated in 2 categories for the Lambda Literary Awards, honored in 2012 by Wake Forest University for Faces of Courage, and has been featured in theAdvocate, Huffington Post and Ebony magazine.


Anna Pulley is the author of The Lesbian Sex Haiku Book (with Cats!). She writes about love, sex and relationships for her personal blog, as well as in weekly advice columns for The Chicago Tribune’s RedEye and (formerly) AfterEllen.


SPECIAL GUEST HOST Carol Queen, PhD, cofounded the Center for Sex and Culture in San Francisco with her partner, Robert Morgan Lawrence. Queen is also staff sexologist at Good Vibrations, and author of Real Live Nude Girl: Chronicles of Sex-Positive Culture.
