We are proud to present the Dub Mission debut of the one and only POIRIER . Drawing from a wide range of tropical riddims and urban electro, POIRIER’s powerful bass sounds blast through any flimsy attempt to classify his music. Pinpointing the bits and pieces of dancehall beats, soca energy and electronic intensity is futile in the face of his dance-driven creativity, and air horn-worthy excitement. Signed to Ninja Tune, this is a man who just understands what works in the dance.

One of the longest running dub & reggae parties in the U.S., possibly the world, DUB MISSION is a weekly Sunday night party based in San Francisco, presenting cutting-edge dub, roots reggae, dancehall and dubstep, and will celebrate its 15th anniversary this September. Dub Mission won a San Francisco Bay Guardian Goldie award in the music category in 1999, and was nominated for "Best Party" in the 2004 Club World Awards. Dub Mission has featured artists from all over the world. A partial list includes Adrian Sherwood & the ON-U Sound System, Mad Professor & the Ariwa Sound System, the Scientist, Zion Train, Twilight Circus Dub Sound System, Groove Corporation aka Overproof Sound System, Florian Seyberth of Boozoo Bajou, Tino Corp feat. Jack Dangers & Ben Stokes, Dr. Israel, Yossi Fine of Ex-Centric Sound System, Heavyweight Dub Champion, Dub Gabriel, Third Eye Tribe and many others. We look forward to another great year of riddims and laughter.

Prentice Grant: From Vauxhall to Legacy — The Rise of an Independent Hip-Hop Force

The first time Prentice Grant realized music could change his life, he was just a kid in Vauxhall, New Jersey, staring at the TV. Two kids not much older than him were on the screen — backwards clothes, fearless energy, commanding the world. It was Kris Kross performing “Jump.”And in that moment, something clicked. It wasn’t just the beat.It wasn’t just the crowd. It was the power. From that day forward, Prentice didn’t just listen to hip-hop — he became it.He sharpened his pen studying legends.…See More
