Event Description

"Don't Sweat the Technique: Ode to the Spraycan" presented by 1:AM SF Gallery, Estria Invitational Graffiti Battle and Montana North America
September 11 - October 9, 2009

1:AM SF gallery and Estria are committed to providing a positive outlet for people who want to enrich their lives creatively through street art. True to their dedication, they, along with Montana Colors, present "Don't Sweat the Technique: Ode to the Spraycan", an art gallery exhibition celebrating aerosol art. This groundbreaking collaboration is unprecedented and gives fans and those curious about urban arts a window into the culture on a national level.

For the past five months, Estria Invitational Graffiti Battle (EIGB) has been holding competitions across the nation searching for someone to reign supreme with their aerosol skills. The finals are here in the Bay Area. Before concluding this journey, Estria will be kicking off the finals in style and invited the talented participants to showcase their impressive and innovative art at 1:AM gallery. They will be paying tribute to their choice of art tool, the spraycan. The killer line up includes:

California: Neon, Bounce, Chez, Vogue, Eon 75, Germz, Vyal, Refa, Natrl

Chicago: Rome, Tsel, Chucho, Melon, Debl, Like

Hawai'i: Katch, Estria, Eukarezt, Ckaweeks, Prime, Bam

New York: Wane One, Doves, Cern, Queen Andrea, Cekis

Whether you are a newbie or veteran to street art, this is the show to educate yourself in the art of the spraycan. The heavy hitters are here to add some color to your walls and flavor to your sketchbooks.

Opening reception is on September 11th from 7 - 10pm. DJ Don Kainoa, Spinnerty, and Bozak will be dropping the beats. This is a 21+ event.
Exhibition will run through October 9th. Don't forget to mark your calendars for the EIGB finals, as part of the Living Word Festival, on October 10th in Oakland!
