ABOUT:
Following the most insane build-up (and misbehaviors) we ever had, our Baile Funk is back for one more night of dance floor heat, self-expression, beautiful people, and lots of music to make you go bananas at the finest club in town, The Great Northern, with the genre’s expert, deejay Antônio Guedes, Paulo Presotto, and Elan Kamesar.

Baile Funk is a mixture of Miami Bass, plus Brazilian rhythms and rhymes. It was crafted by artists in the favelas with primitive technology and samples of funk and Afro-Brazilian influences. Today it’s a global favorite of many infamous DJs and producers, like Diplo, MIA, and Tropkillaz. Though, this party goes way beyond the basics, mixing all the most current Baile Funk with House, Disco, Hip Hop, Reggaeton, Trap, Samba, Soul, and much more.

BRAZA was voted Hottest SF Party by SFWeekly readers, in 2012. The production crew has been throwing events since 2009. Today, it became a production company ran by Antônio Guedes (co-founder), who’s also a musician and accomplished producer. His productions have had glamorous highlights in its 8 years of activities. Grammy winning DJs have controlled BRAZA!’s console in an unprecedented fashion, bringing forward Brazilian/Latin flavored sets exclusively picked for the occasion. Names like: DJ Nu-Mark (Jurassic Five), DJ Spinna (BBE / Rawkus Records), DJ Nuts (Marcelo D2), Maga Bo (Tru Thoughts), Marcelinho Da Lua (Bossacucanova), LEFTO (Blue Note), and so many other remarkable artists they are so proud to have worked with. In addition to being selected as the city’s hottest shenanigans, BRAZA! was the official music production company for the Macy’s Brasil Flower Festival, in 2012, delivering DJ sets to four different floors, simultaneously. Both, in San Francisco and San José.

Cole Lumpkin Moves With the Music, Letting Life Shape Every Note

Cole Lumpkin doesn’t create from a distance. He creates from inside the moment. As a New York City native, his artistry reflects motion, curiosity, and constant self-interrogation. Music for Lumpkin isn’t something you step into once everything is figured out. It’s something you carry with you, refine on the move, and allow to grow alongside real life. A self-taught…See More

Prentice Grant: From Vauxhall to Legacy — The Rise of an Independent Hip-Hop Force

The first time Prentice Grant realized music could change his life, he was just a kid in Vauxhall, New Jersey, staring at the TV. Two kids not much older than him were on the screen — backwards clothes, fearless energy, commanding the world. It was Kris Kross performing “Jump.”And in that moment, something clicked. It wasn’t just the beat.It wasn’t just the crowd. It was the power. From that day forward, Prentice didn’t just listen to hip-hop — he became it.He sharpened his pen studying legends.…See More
