ALI SHAHEED MUHAMMAD
MIGHTY is pleased to have Ali Shaheed Muhammad for an exclusive DJ set Friday, June 19th. Ali is predominantly known as 1/3 of perhaps the greatest hip hop group of all time, A Tribe Called Quest. With Q-Tip and Phife Dog, the group released Five albums placing them in the forefront hip hop.
Ali’s work doesn’t end with A Tribe Called Quest, together with legendary hip hop producer Jay Dee and fellow Tribe member Q-tip, the production collective The Ummah was created, whome were soley responsible for the bulk of the platinum selling Beats, Rhymes and Life. The Ummah’s production credits include an array of artists including Busta Rhymes, Slum Village, Janet Jackson, Jamiroquai, Brand New Heavies to name a few.
After the A Tribe Called Quest Disbanded Ali went on to form the R&B supergroup Lucy Pearl with Dawn Robinson, formerly of En Vogue and Raphael Saadiq, formerly of Tony Toni Tone, releasing one album in 2000. In 2004 Ali released his debut solo album, Shaeedullah and Stereotypes.
Recently you’ve been able to catch Ali Shaheed Muhammad touring back with his partners Q-Tip and Phife Dog. Tribe was recently featured as the headliner for the Rock The Bells Festival.
Ali will be joined by two of the bays best DJs, Ren the Vinyl Archaeologist and Sake1.
