(source: okayplayer.com) Prince Po is half of 90s legendary rap group Organized Konfusion. Along with his partner in Konfusion, Pharoah Monche, Prince Po helped craft their 1991 self-titled album which is still regarded as one of the greatest hip-hop debuts ever. In 2002, Prince Po met with underground phenom producer Danger Mouse when DM was recording Ghetto Pop Life. After making a guest appearance on that album, Prince Po and Danger Mouse started work on a new LP - The Slickness. It turned out to be a stunning rap album. DM produced several tracks with Po and also enlisted Madlib, Jel, J-Zone and Richard X to produce beats for the record. They also brought in guest emcees MF Doom, Raekwon, Jemini The Gifted One and J-Ro from Tha Alkaholiks. The DM produced 7" Social Distortion w/ Doom has been flying out of on-line stores and has quickly become a hard to find collector's item. The Hold Dat 12" was single of the month in Jockey Slut and URB and is being championed by Z-Trip among others. The BIG single "Bump Bump" w/ Raekwon hasn't even dropped yet and Prince Po is getting ready to take his one-man rap attack on the road with Def Jux super-producer RJD2. "It's a joy to report that not all "old school" (or in this case, mid-school) rappers are mired in outdated beats and bitter attempts to right their place in history. Prince Po, who along with Pharoahe Monch defined early 90's rap at its most creative as Organized Konfusion, has put out a truly brave single, "Hold Dat" (Lex). Underground rap is finally emerging from its own conservatism and embracing the present, evidenced by the adventurous production on this single from Richard X. Early 80's electro bleeps work well with Po, who no longer seems burdened with having to separate himself from the more charismatic (and successful) Monch. Let's hope "Hold Dat" and the coming album will bring the kind of mainstream success that has so far eluded Prince Po." - DJ Shadow on Prince Po in The New York Times "Madlib, Danger Mouse and J-Zone create the background for Po's mesmerizing delivery here and each track drips with heart and soul as a classic voice collaborates with the best of today's talent." - XLR8R"With the release of The Slickness, Po shows us exactly where the fuck he's at. Instead of rushing to put out a bullshit album, he hits us off correctly and makes the 7 year wait worthwhile." - Vapors MagazineORGANIZED KONFUSION - STRESSMYSPACEhttp://www.myspace.com/princeponastyhabitsentMUSIC
