Keep your ears open, New Native and Radio-Active are making their rounds again. The New Native collective continues to redefine itself, finding inspiration from the ever-growing group of artists and musicians that make up their community. Having spent the last few years honing their craft on the San Francisco live music circuit, New Native has slowly morphed from a subdued, introspective soul band into the group it is today - a musical act that combines powerful, rootsy grooves (think early Bob Marley) with a hip-hop sensibility. Their latest CD and upcoming show at Storyville feature MC Radio-Active, one of the most inspiring new talents in the Bay Area. New Native is a collective of people in the San Francisco community. People who have roots in other cultures but have made San Francisco their home. They outdate the post-college club-hopping hip-hop fans, and certainly out-class most of the SF neophytes. Having recently hooked up with MC Radio-Active to jam and record a few tracks, the latest New Native effort features their most positive and energetic collaboration to date. Anyone who has seen Radio go off has oohed and ahhed at his skills. His clever rap antics, free-styling ability, and beat boxing have won him insta-respect from the hip-hop community. He takes his role as master of ceremonies very seriously, engaging the audience lyrically with a freestyle, Radio-Active runs shows like a seasoned pro. In this age of self praising MCs and electronic music, New Native and Radio-Active sanctify the art of hip hop. Their music is a communication of their lifestyle, changing beats, but never losing focus. A New Native show often serves as a platform for DJ\'s and other musicians, and a forum for guest MCs to relate to their audience and to one another. Though you\'re likely to see more than a handful of guest singers and MCs on the mic, it is clear that Radio and New Native share an exceptionally natural flow. The coupling of New Native and Radio-Active is like when chocolate and peanut butter decided to kick it. A perfect blend of live music, deep roots, and jaw dropping entertainment. New Native feat.
