Kandi came by her DJ instincts naturally: she grew up watching her father DJ parties. Eventually, after quietly watching the battle DJs on the scene (including longtime boyfriend Roli Rho), Kandi shocked everyone by touching the turntables herself. Little did they know that she had been secretly practicing on her own all along! Now that she's widely regarded as the best female battle DJ around and one of the most promising up-and-coming turntablists period, male or female, Kuttin Kandi has proved that women can hold their own on the fiercely competitive battle DJ arena. Although she's only been DJing publicly for 2 years, Kandi has already made a strong mark. Just check her growing award list! In addition to her work with 5th Platoon, she's also a founding member of the all-female Hip-Hop collective Anomolies, rocks parties with Introbass Productions, and is a DJ for B-boy crew Rock with Finesse. Kandi is truly a turntabilist on the rise! Battle Scars: Source NYC Champ, ITF 97 Scratch Catagories, ITF 97 Team Routine Member, 98 DMC SouthWest Regional 2nd Place, (She was invited to compete in the DMC USA Finals) Nick names: KK, double K, Kandy Girl, Kuttin Klumsy...... She wanted to be called Candy Girl - now that's a hardcore name, like anybody would be scared to battle a girl named Candy, sheeshh. Anyway, Walucifer insisted on Kuttin' Kandi, and we basically voted that sissy girl name out... She seems to be slightly schitzo - like the incredible hulk, don't get home girl mad!!! Check the Rythm method for the Kuttin Kandi head nod... Taken from the now-defunct www.5th-Platoon.com
