Born in Spanish Harlem N.Y.C.,Coop D'ville was influenced by the birth of hip hop culture. As a five yr old growing up in Uptown N.Y., he witnessed the pioneers of graffiti, djs, and b-boyin such as Dondi, Kool Herc, and Crazy legs. Inspired by Red Alert on the radio, Coop set out to get his hands on turntables at the age of 12. With one turntable and a tape deck he created his first mix tape for sale to buy records in jr. high. From then on he dedicated all his time to developing his own style. Coop discovered the purpose behind djing through the message in the music he would play. He found truth through artists such as KRS-1, RAKIM and PUBLIC ENEMY, all of whom were poetic revolutionaries in the hip hop movement. Following K.R.S 1's philosophy Coop used the turntables as a form of "EDUTAINMENT" (education+entertainment). Production was the next level when Coop D'ville hooked up with C.O.D.E. in Miami. Coop d'ville started making beats with tape decks and a turntable. He looped beats by pause mixing and stacking tracks. After a few demo's, he took the crew everywhere and opened up for groups like
A Tribe Called Quest, Cypress Hill, Biz Markie, Wu Tang........... Now its the time to unleash the long awaited production from Coop D'ville. He creates his music with different tools depending on the kind of song he'a producing. AKAI mp2 with korgs or emu along side some turntables to add the cuts and scratches. There is nothing like making fat drum kits from a selection of different sources. The drum and bass is the foundation of a strong rythm and groove. The keys fills the spaces and gives the track a flow. With the right lyrics and message your on the way to making a hot song.
