JAY-Z, Chance The Rapper and Common are just a few of the acts that were supposed to open Woodstock 50 up to a new audience. Instead, the lineup was met with griping from festival purists. But Woodstock co-creator Michael Lang is having none of it.
In an interview with TMZ, Lang stands his ground and says the lineup was curated intentionally to attract a younger generation, just as the first festival in 1969 did.
“It’s not something we’re planning on doing every year, the 50th is a special anniversary,” Lang explains. “We’re hoping to engage people in social discourse and give them an incredible weekend, one that they’ll hopefully remember for the rest of their lives.”
