DJ Kay Slay was laid to rest this Sunday (April 24), after losing his battle to COVID-19 only a week prior, and the New York City legend left a celebrated legacy in music, art and radio. Kay Slay’s protege Papoose will be taking over Kay Slay’s famous Hot 97 radio show “The Drama Hour” as well as "Streetsweeper Radio" at Shade45 and Sirius Radio. Hot 97 announced the radio show will memorialize the beloved DJ, renaming the show “DJ Kay Slay’s Drama Hour.”
According to veteran New York City club promoter Van Silk, Kay Slay’s manager Jarrod “General” Whitaker is determined to keep Slay’s legacy alive. It was also announced that WTS Merch will be run by Gene Deal, Diddy’s former bodyguard, and Mel Robinson, while the role of Straight Stuntin’ Magazine editor and trusted estate advisor will go to Van Silk, who helped co-found the publication in 2007.
