On Saturday August 13th, at Impact Hub Oakland, a group of like minded Hip-Hop practitioners gather to share their crafts and discuss the potential future of Hip-Hop as a whole. Hip-Hop, as we know isn’t just about rhyming but also includes B boying, Graffiti, and DJing.

The participants of this TED style conference are; the music director of Ensemble Mik Nawooj, JooWan Kim, executive director of Hip Hop for Change, Khafre Jay, Davey D of the acclaimed Hip-Hop/activist radio show, Hard Knock Radio - 94.1 (KPFA), Graffiti legend, Ernest Doty, all female Hip-Hop dance troupe, Mix'd Ingrdnts Dance Company, the Turf dance greats, TURFinc, Damian Madray of the experiential art series, TheGlint, and nationally acclaimed soul singer, Martin Luther McCoy.

Among these heavy weights presenting their thoughts, arts, and pondering the future direction of Hip-Hop, the presenters, Ensemble Mik Nawooj and Hip-Hop For Change, firmly believe that the current portrayal of Hip-Hop from the mass media isn’t the essence of it all.

This event is sponsored by Akonadi Foundation, Hard Knock Radio (KPFA), and The City of Oakland.
