Magia Lopez and Alexey Rodriguez of the Cuban hip-hop group Obsesión are considered founders and leaders of the Hip Hop movement in Cuba, continuing to make great music and play a vital role in the island’s hip hop scene. The duo has produced three successful albums, the most recent being the “black album,” which was released in 2011. They have shared the stage with a number of Cuban and international artists, including Roberto Fonseca, the Roots and Common.
They are back in the Bay for an exclusive performance at the New Parish in Oakland along with DJ Leydis and Sandy Perez, hosted by Rico Pabon. Their socially conscious music is heavily influenced by various genres of music and bound to keep you moving.
