Kanye West announces run for president in 2020 election


The Fourth of July was topped off with a surprise announcement from musical artist and entrepreneur Kanye West that he would run for president in the 2020 election.

The artist announced the presidential bid in a tweet late Saturday.

"We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States," Kanye wrote in the tweet, followed with an American flag emoji and the hashtag #2020VISION.
