San Francisco’s own Empire Records is leveling up its presence in the city with the announcement of a new rooftop music venue at its soon-to-be headquarters in the historic One Montgomery building.
The independent label, home to artists like Kendrick Lamar, Shaboozey, Cardi B and Snoop Dogg, has submitted development plans to convert the rooftop into a privately operated live music space. Empire acquired the landmark Financial District property earlier this year for $22.5 million, signaling a major commitment to its hometown.
“Empire has always been rooted in San Francisco, and we’re proud to build our permanent headquarters in the heart of the Financial District, establishing a world-class destination for artists and the community at large,” said founder Ghazi Shami. “Our vision has always been about more than just the music–we create culture and cultivate community.”
