Event Description

NewSense, Ungrammar, PLSTK, and PPRSTK present to you another memorable night of the Changing Same with a live performance by Los Angeles sensation Nosaj Thing @ The Agenda Lounge in San Jose on Friday, September 4. And also back by popular demand, OBEY and the Crosby's own, Free the Robots! Dancers/B-boys, music appreciators, and open-minded folks can't miss this one. Come be a part of the change that San Jose has been needing.

NOSAJ THING (ALPHA PUP | LOS ANGELES)

Last year, Flying Lotus was the cream of the crop, but 2009 belongs to Nosaj Thing, and the comparison between the scenes isn’t lost on the young artist. Hailing from the intensely fertile LA beat scene, Nosaj Thing aka Jason Chung is the latest in a line spanning from Flylo to the MF Gaslamp Killer to spin a new angle on sun drenched hiphop electronics. He shares a fascination for hiphop tempos and electronic production methods with many of his peers, but what sets Nosaj out on his own is the filigree attention to detail paid to his work, combining a level of intricate melodic and harmonic complexity generally associated with UK artists like Aphex Twin, whom Nosaj cites as a major influence.

FREE THE ROBOTS (ELSEWHERE | OBEY | SANTA ANA)
http://www.myspace.com/freetherobots
http://www.robotfreedom.blogspot.com

Up next on the list, we have Santa Ana based producer/DJ, Free The Robots (aka Chris Alfaro). Alfaro is a one man band that mixes digital samples snatched from vinyl records with original analog compositions.
Having collaborated with and shared stages with The Gaslamp Killer, Prefuse 73, Diplo, Flying Lotus, Boom Bip, and Nosaj Thing, Alfaro's work nestles in a niche not unlike that occupied by those artists.

Jazz, Breaks, Dubstep, Hip Hop all under one roof for one night!

Cole Lumpkin doesn’t create from a distance. He creates from inside the moment. As a New York City native, his artistry reflects motion, curiosity, and constant self-interrogation. Music for Lumpkin isn’t something you step into once everything is figured out. It’s something you carry with you, refine on the move, and allow to grow alongside real life. A self-taught…See More
