Event Description

NON STOP BHANGRA BACK TO THE BAY-SICS!

Non Stop Bhangra has started off the New Year at a massive level. After four packed months at their new monthly home at Public Works featuring artists from all over North America, they are bringing the focus back to the Bay this month.

Celebrating the return of World music pioneer Cheb I Sabbah who will be bringing his legendary 1002 Nights vibe to the event for a special late night extended DJ set. This will be his first show back in SF after battling stage four cancer which brought together the music scene from SF and all around the globe in support.

The NSB Residents are going to take it back to old school NSB days doing extended Bhangra sets sharing their favorite tunes. We welcome the return of DJ Rav-E from Chicago, fresh off of signing to Soldier Sound Recordings founded by Bhangra producer heavy weights, Tigerstyle. In addition, DJ Jimmy Love will be joined on the decks by recently dubbed resident and this year's Bay Area DMC champion, Dj Sol Rising. As always, the night begins with its ritual Bhangra dance lesson and performances by the beautiful ladies of the Dholrhythms Dance Company. Beyond sound and dance, Non Stop Bhangra caters to your eyes and taste buds all night with visuals by DJ Amar, live painting by Marcus Murray and tasty goods by Kasa Indian Food truck.

Continuing with the celebration of Bay Area vibes, this event will be the kick off party for a week long Zazzle - Bay To Breakers line up of events featuring a photo booth powered by Instagram/Hipstamatic. So much more than just a club night, Non Stop Bhangra has truly turned into a one of a kind cultural experience only found in the Bay Area.

******The Theme this month is pretty in pink and men in black!

FOR THOSE THAT STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT NSB IS:
Imagine a scene from a Bollywood movie smack in the middle of a thumping nightclub---swirling colors, the rhythm of pounding feet, and the relentless energy of brilliant beats-that’s Non Stop Bhangra. Non Stop Bhangra is a non-stop party, featuring dance lessons with Dholrhythms Dance Company, followed by dance performances, live music sets, visuals, live painting, and DJs spinning an eclectic mix of Bhangra, Hip-Hop, Reggae, and Electronica.

Prentice Grant: From Vauxhall to Legacy — The Rise of an Independent Hip-Hop Force

The first time Prentice Grant realized music could change his life, he was just a kid in Vauxhall, New Jersey, staring at the TV. Two kids not much older than him were on the screen — backwards clothes, fearless energy, commanding the world. It was Kris Kross performing “Jump.”And in that moment, something clicked. It wasn’t just the beat.It wasn’t just the crowd. It was the power. From that day forward, Prentice didn’t just listen to hip-hop — he became it.He sharpened his pen studying legends.…See More
