An evening of performance and music addressing issues of identity, migration, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as well as material from Saria Idana's newly released HOMELESS IN HOMELAND album.
HOMELESS IN HOMELAND is a 70min solo show about urban Jewish-American identity, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the human need for a place of belonging, of home. It is a piece of documentary theater based on a trip taken by the writer/performer to Israel and the occupied West Bank in 2007. Actor-dancer-poet Saria Idana weaves spoken word with cultural dance styles, the personal with the political; she speaks in her own voice and in the voices of seventeen characters, American, Israeli and Palestinian.
Saria Idana's spoken word album HOMELESS IN HOMELAND was officially released on 7/1/2012. This collaboration with Alcendor features both poetic material included in the HOMELESS ON HOMELAND solo show and music tracks only found on the album. Sound design includes live captures of sound from Israel/Palestine, urban beats, guitar and voice; a blend of music styles and themes reflecting a unique Jewish American experience. Available for purchase on CD Baby and iTunes.
