Event Description

Darren Cunningham, better known as Actress, the mind behind Werk Discs label, home to the likes of Lone, Zomby, Starkey and Lukid, is definitely one of the most significant UK’s music figures, who manages to stay away from the social spotlight, while continually achieving outstanding musical results.

His latest album Splazsh has become one of the most anticipated and most talked about in the past few months. And as Resident Advisor’s Todd Burns notes: “I just got tired after a while, thinking up more words to put in the “genre” box for Actress’ Splazsh. Dubstep. House. Techno. Experimental. And, really, what’s the point?”

Dazed&Confused magazine describes him as “an artist so underground that even his own friends doubt his existence.” A mystery indeed, Actress’s sets are “variable depending on the night and mood,” some describe his performances as one of the “most prolific club experiences.” We wonder, how Actress is going to surprise us in San Francisco…
