Money B on Digital Underground Leader Shock G Dying from Overdose, 2Pac Attacking Sound Man (Part 1)

In a rare Vlad TV interview, Money B, longtime member of Digital Underground, reflects on the late Shock G’s tragic death from an overdose and shares insights on 2Pac’s early association with the group. Money B first met Shock G in 1988, soon joining the group before their debut album. He praises Shock G as a creative genius behind Digital Underground’s iconic visuals, including the artwork for hits like “The Humpty Dance.”

Shock G was pivotal in bringing Tupac Shakur into the fold, allowing the then-Strictly Dope member to join their tour and gain exposure on a national level. Money B recalls Tupac’s intense passion, including a notorious incident where Tupac nearly confronted a sound man over technical issues during tour—a testament to his fiery spirit.

Regarding Shock G’s struggles with heavy drug use, Money B notes the difficulty in pinpointing when it escalated, citing the group’s individual circles and Shock G’s private nature. He emphasizes the late artist’s focus on art and honesty but acknowledges how his lifestyle eventually took a toll.

This candid conversation sheds light on the complex dynamics behind one of hip-hop’s most innovative crews and their intertwined.
