Elevation Returns This Friday with Special Guest DJ Wonway Posibul from KALW

Oakland, get ready—Elevation, the Bay Area’s new monthly journey through soulful-house, disco-house, and global grooves, returns this Friday with an extra special guest: DJ Wonway Posibul from KALW.

Co-presented by True Skool and Days Like This, Elevation transforms Golden Ratio (formerly The Layover) into a vibrant musical sanctuary where dancers, music lovers, and community builders come together to celebrate rhythm, soul, and creative expression.

Your Host & Curator: Renoir (aka Ren the Vinyl Archaeologist)

At the heart of Elevation is curator and resident DJ Renoir (aka Ren the Vinyl Archaeologist). A New York native now rooted in the Bay Area, Ren is the founder of True Skool, an influential platform established in 1999 that has showcased Hip Hop legends, emerging artists, and world-class turntablists.

Ren credits his musical sensibilities to his East Coast upbringing and formative years in New York’s legendary club scene—regularly attending iconic parties like NASA, Soul Kitchen, Giant Step, and nights at Limelight. These experiences shaped his eclectic, soulful approach to DJing, blending deep grooves with global influences.

Over the years, Ren has shared stages with heavyweights such as Jazzy Jeff, Wu-Tang Clan, Rakim, Masters at Work, Nightmares on Wax, and many more. Widely respected as a tastemaker and cultural connector, he continues to champion music that honors the past while pushing the culture forward.

Special Guest: Wonway Posibul

This month, Elevation welcomes the multi-talented Juan “Wonway Posibul” Amador — an MC, DJ, actor, and radio host whose artistic roots run deep in Hip Hop culture. Wonway’s journey began in 1988 watching the first episode of Yo! MTV Raps, a moment that sparked a lifelong devotion to music and storytelling.

Through years of open mics, garage sessions, freestyle battles, theatre work, and DJ gigs, he has built an impressive creative legacy. His accomplishments include DJ residencies in NYC and LA, national theater tours, performances around the world, and even a GRAMMY nomination.

Whether on stage, behind the decks, or on-air, Wonway bridges artistic disciplines with ease, bringing soulful depth and global perspective to every set.

Elevation: A New Cultural Movement

More than just a party, Elevation is a gathering that celebrates music’s power to bring people together. Expect soulful rhythms, warm vibes, and a dance floor full of people who move with intention and joy. With Renoir and Wonway guiding the night, you’re in for a set of uplifting grooves that honor tradition while embracing the future.
