A recent move by the Trump administration has quietly eliminated explicit prohibitions on segregated facilities in federal contracts.
Previously, the federal government required contractors to agree that they would not maintain segregated spaces such as restaurants, waiting rooms, and drinking fountains.
However, a recent memo from the General Services Administration (GSA) instructed agencies to remove this requirement from contracts, following an executive order by President Trump that repealed long-standing nondiscrimination protections established under President Lyndon B. Johnson in the sixties.
