Impulse!/Ume has released a new album from legendary saxophonist John Coltrane.
The album is called Blue World and it was recorded in 1964, the same year he recorded Crescent and A Love Supreme. The music was recorded for the Quebec film The Cat in the Bag. (Only a couple of minutes of music actually ended up in the final version of the film.)
Blue World was originally mixed by Rudy Van Gelder at Van Gelder Studios on June 24, 1964. The album has been mastered from its original analog tape by Kevin Reeves at Universal Music Mastering in New York.
