The Prince Estate has dug up yet another rarity from the late Purple One’s unloaded vault.
The estate has shared two previously-unreleased videos of Chaka Khan joining Prince & Co. onstage at a 1998 show in London’s Brixton Academy, performing electrifying takes of “Sweet Thing” and “Baby, I Love You.” The clips follow other recent excavations of the artist’s ’90s catalog, including the first-ever release of The VERSACE Experience: Prelude 2 Gold, an unreleased 1995 project that was distributed exclusively at Paris Fashion Week that year.
It all pairs well with the announcement of a forthcoming 1999 boxset featuring a good grip of The Work, a heavily-bootlegged multi-volume collection of “Genius Period” demos, rehearsals, and song sketches.
