Talib Kweli And Supernatural Talk Freestyle, Rap Battles & New York Hip-Hop History | People's Party

In this episode of People's Party, Talib Kweli and co-host Jasmin Leigh sit down with the man, the myth, the freestyle legend -- MC Supernatural. Over the next hour and twenty minutes, we get a deeply candid (and rare) discussion with one of the greatest off-the-dome rappers of all time. The conversation covers a wide range of topics, including Nat's (born Reco Price) early life growing up in Marion, Indiana and his move to Brooklyn, were he met Talib while freestyling in Washington Square Park. Together, the two friends look back on the pre-fame days -- soaking up culture and smoking trees in '90s-era Brooklyn, New York.

Later in the show, Nat lays down the true-to-life stories behind his infamous freestyle sessions with Craig G and Juice -- two rap battles that changed hip-hop forever. He also sheds light on his spiritual side and deep immersion in the religion of Yoruba, before opening up about his mother's emotional reaction to seeing him featured in the "Pass the Mic" episode of Netflix's Hip-Hop Evolution.

As the convo continues, Nat offers details on a new album in the works, gives his take on the difference between "freestyle" vs. "off the top of the head" flows, and offers some truly inspiring words to those involved in today's conscious rap movement.
