In the early ’80s, two unlikely figures...Double Dee & Steinski, entered a $100 remix contest and accidentally changed hip-hop forever. Their cut-and-paste “Lessons” mixes, made from piles of records, movie quotes, and TV jingles, spread underground like wildfire, influencing everyone from Coldcut to DJ Shadow. In this video, we dive into the story behind the mixes and how they became some of the most influential creations in hip-hop history.
