- i've been a hip hop dj on mendocino county community radio kzyx & z for nearly 8 years. and in all honesty, i'm more of a selecta than a dj, as i only use cds and mp3s since that's what i have access to. if anyone wants to donate used equipment or serato, hit me up! i'm just doing what i can to get the real hip hop out to the community.
i've opened and played setbreaks for tre hardson of the pharcyde, krs one, lyrics born, lateef the truthspeaker, & the sugarhill gang at the caspar inn (our only music venue up here!). what i play on my radio show and what i play out is a completely different vibe. i have a captive audience w/ my radio show so i play more lyrically-oriented material, and when i play out i'll stick with what will keep the dancefloor moving-- except for that top 40 crap.
i'd be stoked to play stuff from local bay area artists...hit me up if you'd like to get something on the airwaves in mendocino county. you can listen live online every 5th saturday on http://www.kzyx.org

censorship on public radio
after nearly 8 years of being a hip hop dj on KZYX, i'm suddenly being asked to censor my music or get off the air, even though i'm in the FCC "safe harbor" after 10pm where it's safe to broadcast "profane" materials. tune in online this saturday night at 10pm at kzyx.org for what could very well be my last show. :(

this is TophOne from the RedWine DJs in San Fran... I've actually spun records in the woods around Caspar back in the Summer of '06 for a weekender called Pirate Camp, an annual benefit that some friends put together... that's some amazingly beautiful country y'all have up there!
