DJ Jazzy Jeff Says Will Smith Would’ve “Slapped Mike Tyson” During the Oscars

While speaking Faq Podcast, DJ Jazzy Jeff claimed that Will Smith would have slapped anyone on the Oscars stage who joked about his wife.

Will Smith might be moving on from his Oscars slap incident, but DJ Jazzy Jeff isn’t. The Philadelphia turntablist and producer – who was one-half of ’90s duo DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince – spoke on FAQ Podcast about not being surprised by Smith’s outburst. During the 94th Academy Awards, Smith walked on stage to slap Chris Rock for making a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith‘s alopecia, referencing 1997 film G.I. Jane. Months later, Jazzy Jeff claims that Smith would have slapped virtually anyone for making the joke.

“When it happened and I saw him walk up there, the one thing I would say – ’cause I’ve had people say, ‘Oh he wouldn’t have done that to no gangsta,’” he said. “Let me tell you something about Will. Will is somebody that cliff dove in Jamaica and couldn’t swim. Will was the person that whatever he’s afraid of, he runs to. I ain’t got that in me. I don’t have that in me at all. I’ve watched Will almost die numerous times running straight.

Jazzy Jeff went as far as saying that Smith “would’ve slapped Mike Tyson.”
