Welcome To Rap City, a new three-part documentary series is set to premiere this October, Global Grind reports.
The landmark series launched on BET on August 11, 1989 by former BET VJ/producer Alvin Jones, and eventually became the longest-running Hip-Hop series in history. In the spring of 1999, the show was reformatted and retitled to Rap City: Tha Basement. Throughout it's long run, the series featured a variety of hosts, including Joe Clair, Prince Dajour, Big Lez, and Big Tigger.
"I ain’t even gon’ front, ‘Rap City’ was like the primary platform for everybody," T.I. says in the documentary trailer. "No matter how big you may see these people right now […] ‘Rap City‘ gave us a launchpad and a countdown to shoot us off into the stratosphere.”
