Rocky flexes his crooning chops across the pond with NYC’s stalwart jazz misfits
A$AP Rocky recently closed out the Australian leg of his tour in support of the new album, TESTING, with downtown jazz ensemble, Onyx Collective, at his side.
But before making their escape, Rocky gathered the crew (whose recent credits include contributions to Blood Orange’s Negro Swan and Terence Nance’s Random Acts of Flyness) for one last run with triple j’s Like A Version. The group assembled for a spot-on recreation of Otis Redding’s unfuckwitable “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of The Bay” and a live treatment of the nautical TESTING single, “Praise The Lord (Da Shine)” with a guest appearance from Skepta.
Watch A$AP Rocky and Onyx Collective treat the classic to an update above, the Skepta-assisted take of “Praise The Lord (Da Shine)” below. Stay tuned for the next edition of triple j’s Like A Version. Hit the link to grab your copy of TESTING, featuring Frank Ocean, Kid Cudi, FKA twigs, and more.
