Earlier this month, Heads got a 66-second trailer for the upcoming dramatic series, Wu-Tang: An American Saga. The 10-part biographical account of Wu-Tang Clan’s beginnings is slated to premiere on Hulu on September 4. The trailer was a first look at Dave East (playing “Method Man”) and Joey Bada$$ (portraying “Inspectah Deck”). Meanwhile, the series is created by RZA (with Alex Tse) is executive produced by Meth’ and Brian Grazer.
Six weeks away from the premiere, fans get an even better look with an expanded two-plus-minute trailer. The series will dramatize some of the things beyond music alluded to in Sacha Jenkins’ Showtime documentary earlier this year, Wu-Tang: Of Mics and Men.
The montage of sequences shows RZA behind the turntables and Emu Systems SP1200 in his Staten Island basement. Vignettes suggest the wisdom offered by chess and the role of family members behind the scenes. Action sequences show fighting, shootouts, and Molotov cocktails too. An Eric B. & Rakim concert appears to be one key setting. In the background, several renditions of songs from Wu’s 1993 debut, Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) can be heard.
