Beats 1 produced a very special episode of Pharrell Williams and Scott Vener’s OTHERtone radio show this week. The installment was recorded in front of a live studio audience at Pharrell’s recent Something In The Water Music Festival, and featured his Neptunes partner Chad Hugo, Pusha-T, Timbaland, and Teddy Riley. While the six gentlemen cover a wide range of topics, the conversation focuses on Virginia Beach, where all the guests except Teddy Riley are from and where Something In The Water takes place.
The highly successful V-A artists talk about how they first met, crediting what Pharrell calls “connectors” for linking the various parties. They establish that Timbaland’s family home was a hub of creative activity back in the day and that besides being a producer, that he was also a highly talented DJ. In unison Pharrell and Pusha both state that DJ Timmy Tim “was the illest DJ ever. Ever!”
