Talib Kweli often speaks on things he sees happening in Hip Hop that don’t properly represent the culture, and today Iggy Azalea has found herself in his crosshairs. Earlier this morningMacklemore & Ryan Lewis released their new single, “White Privilege II,” where Macklemore openly discussed white people stealing black culture, #BlackLivesMatters and police brutality towards black people. He compared Iggy to Elvis, and conveyed the notion that he believed his and other’s silence to certain issues is a painful example of white privilege.
Not long after the song was released, a fan reached out to Azalea on Twitter and asked her what she thought about Macklemore’s new song, in which he disses her, and Azalea replied by saying–in a since deleted tweet–“He shouldn’t have spent the last 3 yrs having friendly convos and taking pictures together at events etc if those were his feelings.” Kweli caught wind of Azalea’s dismissal of Macklemore’s comments and had the following to say.
The fact @iggyazalea thinks Macklemore song was a diss to her, instead of actually listening, is proof of her privilege. Fuck Iggy Azalea.

True story. I actually rooted for Iggy when she first came out. But she's disrespected hip hop culture one too many times.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Iggy Azalea has gotten into a tweet scuffle, and the way she shoots from the hip on social media, it surely isn’t the last.
