Luckily Chappelle also had goons with him.
On Tuesday (January 15th) Neal Brennan appeared on The Breakfast Club to promote his upcoming Comedians of the World Netflix special. However, there were other things to talk about first: mainly R. Kelly.
The first question Charlemagne Tha God asked was about digging up old jokes. More specifically, Charlemagne wanted to know his reaction to the fact that Dave Chappelle’s infamous 16-year-old skit “Pee on You” — in which he mocks the R. Kelly pee tape — was being scrutinized, after the release of Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly docu-series.
Brennan answered the question like this:
I don’t think people understand what comedy is supposed to do. We will observe things, we will make fun of things. Did people want us to round up a posse and go arrest R. Kelly? Like, what were we supposed to do?
And then Brennan revealed an interesting little tidbit. R. Kelly wanted to get Chappelle hurt after the sketch was aired:
R. Kelly wanted to fight Dave. His goons stepped to Dave in Chicago and Dave’s goons intervened. The goons negotiated.
