Welcome to okay acoustics: where young talented artists pull up to our Okay Space and perform stripped-down renditions of some of their favorite songs. We have been doing okay acoustic for a while, but have added an s to the title: it’s our way of acknowledging that, technically, these performances aren’t always truly acoustic.
In out latest estallment we had Manhattan rapper/songwriter Marlon Craft stop by to perform tracks from his debut album, Funhouse Mirror. In 2015, he released his debut mixtape Pieces. Since then, Craft dropped two EPs and landed guest spots on Masta Ace and Marco Polo’s A Breukelen Story album in 2018. The following year, he released The Tunnel’s End mixtape, which peaked at number 2 on the iTunes Hip-Hop chart.
In subsequent years, Craft made splashes with freestyles on Statik Selektah’s Shade 45 radio show. The lead single from Funhouse Mirror, “Gang Shit,” focused on institutional racism and gathered praise from the likes of Killer Mike, T.I., and La La Anthony.
