Nas drops a new single for the Between The World and Me soundtrack.
On November 21, HBO will premiere its new series Between the World and Me, adapted from Ta-Nehisi Coates’ award-winning book of the same name. On Friday, Nas released an all-new track from the project, “Fallen Stars Flying.” Stream the new track below.
It’s been a productive year for Nas in and outside of the booth. On Wednesday, BET premiered Smoke: Marijuana + Black Business. Nas executive produced and narrated the documentary. The series features testimonies from notable names like Freeway Ricky Ross, retired NBA star Al Harrington, Ty Dolla $ign and Kamala Harris.
“The world has finally begun opening up to the cannabis industry the way I feel it should have years ago,” he told Variety in a statement back in October. “Even still, hate exists in this business for Black people, and that is something that sickens me and should be recognized for its blatant evil. The people that have been locked up for marijuana should not only be freed, but receive restitution for the damage done to them by outdated laws.”
Between the World and Me features an all-star cast including names like Angela Bassett, Mahershala Ali, and Oprah Winfrey. The stars filmed their segments in their own homes back in August to comply with COVID-19 safety protocols. The series has added a few things from the five years between the book’s publication and the series’ development, including an extended audio interview with the mother of Breonna Taylor.
