Liam Gallagher Slams Rock Hall of Fame After Oasis Nomination: ‘There’s Something Very Fishy About Those Awards’

Liam Gallagher is being, well, very Liam Gallagher when it comes to Oasis‘ nomination for the Rock Hall’s class of 2024. In other words, he did a take-down of the institution with his usual dry wit and candor via social media.

“Fuck the Rock n Roll hall of fame its full of BUMBACLARTS,” he posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, after the nominees were announced Saturday. In a series of posts between fans who responded to his quip, he berated the hall, saying, “there’s something very fishy about those awards,” and “You know it I don’t need some wank award by some geriatric in a cowboy hat.”

He also discouraged one poster from promoting fan votes, responding with: “Don’t waste your time kid as much as it’s appreciated it’s all a load of bollox.” When one person suggested Oasis deserved to be recognized, he deflected and said, “Not as much as Mariah she smashed it.”

If they do win, he told fans they should not expect him to attend, as he has other plans. Naturally, he also took the opportunity to swipe at his brother and Oasis bandmate, Noel Gallagher. “The little fella loves hanging out with celebrities so he’d prob go as for me I’m washing my hair and having a pedicure and a manicure,” he quipped. Noel has yet to weigh in on the nomination. While Liam has claimed he would like Oasis to reunite, Noel disputed that framing in an interview with Rolling Stone last June.

“I’ve accepted now that this is never gonna go away,” Noel said. “I’ve put it out there that if Liam really wants to do it, he should fucking call me, and he hasn’t called me, so I’m just assuming that he doesn’t want it either. Well, I know for a fact he doesn’t want it either, but he likes to paint this picture of, you know, this little fucking guy who’s sitting with his suitcase packed by the door, you know, like the little fucking cat from fucking Shrek, you know, the little fucking Spanish cat with these big fucking teary eyes. ‘I’m [gonna] go and do it now for you fans. I love you.’ It’s like, well, fucking call me then. And he hasn’t called me. And until he does, it’s fucking going nowhere.”

Amid Liam’s continued humorous responses to the Rock Hall news, he did actually agree with a person who said Oasis deserves to be nominated, replying, “Of course” despite not thinking much of the honor.

The Class of 2024 nominees include Cher, Ozzy Osbourne, Sinéad O’Connor, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Dave Matthews Band, Eric B. & Rakim, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Jane’s Addiction, Kool & the Gang, Lenny Kravitz, and A Tribe Called Quest. The winners will be announced in late April, and the ceremony will take place in Cleveland sometime later in the year.
