In the early 1990s, Large Professor was a master mentor to fellow young MCs. While the Main Source front-man was pivoting to his solo career, he mentored Nas, Akinyele, and Organized Konfusion, among others. Starting with “Live At The Barbeque” in 1991, it was clear by Illmatic that Nas had been coached to be a champion.
These days, Nas helps run things at Mass Appeal Records. One of the MCs he was quick to work with was Fashawn. While the Fresno, California MC has had a buzz for a decade, he is looking to make a bigger dent with third solo LP, Manna. Who better than Large Pro’ to step in. The Queens, New Yorker produces “Fashawn” and takes the MC back to his essence. Pounding drums and a versatile sample back up the track, while F-A-S-H paints pictures with words about who he is, and what he’s here to do.
