Katt Williams Quitting Stand-Up: 'I'm Just Gonna Go Ahead And Announce My Retirement' (VIDEO)

The Huffington Post  |  By  Posted: 12/04/2012

Troubled comedian Katt Williams is quitting stand-up after a series of bizarre behavior, alleged assaults and multiple arrests.

Williams made the announcement during an interview with Seattle's KOMO News on Monday.

"I'm just gonna go ahead and announce my retirement from stand-up, I'm kinda done," Williams told KOMO. "I've discussed it with my kids, I wasn't gonna do in the middle of a Seattle street, I was going to go to Los Angeles and do it in the offices of ICM or LiveNation."

A message on Williams' website reads: "Will Katt ever do stand-up again?"

Williams complained about being kicked out of the Lake Union Marriott. The comedian was booted from the hotel after guests complained about smelling marijuana and incense from his room, The Seattle Times reported.

Williams said he hopes to stay on a Washington State ferry with his family and crew until his Thursday court date.

"If they will accept our bid... I will take me and my whole staff on that boat because I still have a court date four days from now and can't leave and I've been kicked out of four hotels in two days and I've been arrested by three different sets of officers four different times detained by two sets of officers," he told KOMO News. "I can stay there [on the ferry] and my family can be there and my dogs can be there and my whole staff can be there until we get done suing Seattle for this $50 million that I want for crippling my reputation as a father and a black man and as a taxpaying citizen and as a person who is not a convicted felon."

Williams' very public downward spiral began when he had a meltdown on stage in Oakland, Calif., on Nov. 16, for which he's currently being sued. That morning, he was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. He was later arrested after a nightclub fight on Nov. 14.

About a week later, he allegedly led police on a wild chase through the streets of Sacramento, Calif., while riding a three-wheeled motorcycle. Moments after the chase, he went into a Target and allegedly slapped an employee. Williams was arrested again on Sunday after a bar fight in Seattle, during which he reportedly threatened people with a pool cue.

During Sunday's arrest, things escalated between Williams and the police officer, with the comedian becoming "aggressive and resistant," according to the police report obtained by CNN. "Two of Williams' associates were standing nearby and were pleading for Williams to calm down," the officer wrote.

Born in Cincinnati and raised in Dayton, Ohio, Williams began his career as a stand-up comic in 1999, according to CNN. He made various appearances on BET and was launched into stardom with his 2006 HBO special, "Katt Williams: Pimp Chronicles Pt.1." He has eight children, one biological and seven adopted.
