Almost ten years to the day of his debut mixtape 1999, Joey Badass will release its kinda-sorta-not-really sequel 2000 on June 17. The project will the Brooklyn talent’s first album since 2017’s ALL-AMERIKKKAN BADA$$; since then, he’s since ventured into Hollywood with roles on Mr. Robot, Raising Kanan, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, and the Academy Award-winning Two Distant Strangers.
The Pro Era member recently stopped by Funk Flex’s radio show for a freestyle session, where he dropped bars over Mobb Deep’s 1995 classic “Give Up the Goods (Just Step).” In a recent XXL interview, he spoke on some of the contributors of 2000. “I got my boys on there: Statik Selektah, Kirk Knight. I got a Cardo joint on there,” he says. “I got a Mike WiLL [Made-It] joint on there. I’m supposed to be getting in with DJ Premier this week ’cause I told him I can’t complete this album if we don’t link up.”
