A Grammy-nominated band was forced to postpone several California shows after its 20-foot U-Haul was stolen from an Oakland waterfront hotel parking lot, taking instruments, stage gear and equipment hours before a scheduled Berkeley performance.
Moonchild, a neo-soul and jazz trio from Los Angeles, said the theft happened Wednesday, April 29, before the band was set to take the stage at the UC Theatre.
“This morning our truck was stolen in Oakland,” the band wrote in a statement on social media. “It had all of our stage design, wardrobe, lighting/audio gear, merch, and instruments for the Waves Tour. So, we’re heartbroken to say that we have to reschedule the rest of our tour. Berkeley, Sacramento, LA, San Diego, we are so sorry.”
